You want a centered swing (no swaying) and smooth acceleration into the the release point. The release point occurs in the downswing just as the butt of the grip begins to point at the ball. Too early and you cast the club. Too late and you make poor contact.
Golf Tips for Lefties

Don't Rush the Swing
Sometimes, in an effort to get the longest possible drive we "load up" and really go after the ball only to discover that we don't get the results we thought the "extra effort" would produce. Higher swing speeds will produce a longer drive, but only if we hit the sweet spot. The key is good contact. So concentrate on good contact and a full balanced swing. The speed will come.

The Ball Does Not Know
The ball doesn't know the sky is blue or the grass is green. It could care less. It just wants to feel the impact of a properly handled club, a square club face, and it will do the rest. It will find it's way to the target and into the hole. Then it's happy. It doesn't care if you hit it right handed or left handed. "Just get me in the hole !".
